In January 2008, having heard from the Health Visitor of the huge number of expectant and new mums in the village, we were inspired to put our newly-renovated Hub to good use!
We know that being a mum is possibly the most rewarding and fulfilling job on earth. However, at times it can be overwhelming, lonely and tough, and few of us nowadays have a ready-made support network of family and friends living nearby.
We offer coffee and home-made cake every Tuesday morning from 10 am - 12 noon to any mum-to-be or new mum (i.e. with a baby under 12 months) living in Ruddington, and we know that the opportunity to meet and form social networks with other new mums can prove invaluable in those early months. The Nappuccino team of helpers are all 'experienced' mums and can offer help, advice or just a shoulder to cry on if required.
We also invite guest speakers to give talks on weaning, a baby-massage instructor, introduction sessions to baby signing and music lessons and hold regular infant resuscitation and first aid sessions..........and because we know from experience that evenings out can be rare, we arrange regular evening socials where we can chat and enjoy each other's company. This also means we are able to keep in touch with the Nappuccino mums who have returned to work or whose babies have graduated once they reach a year old. We send out regular newsletters to all mums, past and present, with all the latest news of what's going on and details of all socials.
Our Summer 2010 newsletter is now available to read.
