Sunday Worship

Worship is at the heart of Ruddington Baptist Church. We believe that worship is much more than gathering together on Sundays, but gathering is still an important part of our worship life.  We meet at 10.30 am each Sunday morning in the main hall of Ruddington Young People's Centre to meet with the living God and encourage each other in our discipleship. The feel of our gatherings is relaxed and informal, and the style flexible, multi-voiced and varied.

Typically we start with 30 minutes with all ages together. This time includes songs of worship, prayer and an all-age activity.  The children and young people then head off to their own groups in the lounge, with a crèche for under 3s. All Junior Church staff have been appropriately checked in accordance with government policies and those adopted by the Baptist Union of Great Britain - so our children are in safe hands.

Once the younger members have left, the remaining hour is given to engaging with and responding to a bible passage or theme, praying for each other, our community and the world, and sung worship, often using more reflective songs.

We usually pray using our own words. However,  we sometimes draw on the resources of others to enrich our worship (for example, material from the Northumbrian and Iona communities, Anglican and Baptist churches).

Around 12 noon, we join our children in the lounge for coffee and a chat - although many of our children take the opportunity to play outside on the all-weather pitch.

Our young people have their own Sunday morning programme, so sometimes we see them at the start of the service, sometimes at the end (when we celebrate communion) and sometimes not at all !!
