John’s gospel gives us a series of extraordinary encounters between Jesus and those around him. John tell us he recorded them so that “you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.”

The sessions on Exodus are based on Part 1 of the Lifebuilder Bible Study Exodus: Learning to Trust God study book. The Exodus is a foundational story in the history and formation of the people of Israel and of Jesus’ incarnational setting.

The sessions on parables are based on the Lifebuilder Bible Study: Parables study book. Parables give us much of Jesus’ teaching on God’s Kingdom and the nature of God.
Lent is a time in the Church year – as we look towards Easter – when we take the opportunity to pause and reflect, and seek God. There are lots of good resources that you can use to help in this. For example:
Fasting was an everyday practice for Jesus and his contemporaries, and is often associated with lent. Fasting just means giving something up for a time in order to focus more on God. Here are a few ideas of things you could pause or reduce during lent to make more time for God:
The aim is not to feel bad, but to keep reminding ourselves that God is more important, and to take time to be present to God.
