At Ruddington Baptist Church we aim to provide a place for all to come and worship God. We believe that God can be encountered in a variety of ways through services which include sung worship, teaching, prayer and communion but also in our socialising through shared activities. Our weekly services are not only a place for regular church goers to worship but a point of connection with our local community and with the work of God around the world. We are quite informal and super-friendly: everyone is welcome!
Almost every Sunday morning we have a presence at St Peter’s Rooms (Church Street, Ruddington NG11 6HD) from 10:15am (for refreshments), starting at 10:30am, or in August at the Hub (62 Musters Road, Ruddington NG11 6HW) see “Different Sundays…” below). We have a rolling pattern each month for most of the year:
Weeks 2-5: Sunday Service
Most weeks follow a fairly conventional model of church service including sung worship, teaching and prayer. In our services we aim to provide a welcoming, relaxed and safe space where all are encouraged to join in with the worship of God. We invite people contribute by singing, speaking, praying and sharing out loud if they want to. But equally people are more than free to sit quietly and join in as they feel able. We tend to have a social time over tea and coffee just before and at the end of the service. We usally share communion together on the 3rd Sunday of the month.
In term time, children join everybody for the the first part of the service and then have their own separate activities (in the same building) from about 11am; during School holidays children usually stay in the service throughout.
Week 1: First Sunday
Most first Sundays of the month our services are a bit shorter and even more informal and family-friendly than our usual services – we all stay together and there is something for everyone to join in, whatever your age or where you are on your faith journey. There are refreshments before and after the service, activities for all and a chance to grow in our connections with God, each other and the rest of Ruddington.
Café style Service
We sometimes meet in a café style; for café style services we sit around tables and enjoy tea and coffee and maybe something to eat (like a croissant or a bacon butty). These services are very informal and interactive and include the children and young people. Please check in advance if you want to be sure what to expect.
Different Sundays…
During the School Summer holidays (mainly August) Sunday Services tend to be very informal as people with families are often away. Usually we meet at the Hub. On the Sunday between Christmas Day and New Years Day we tend to meet at the Hub, and perhaps got for a walk. So please check in advance if you are planning to join us.
Remembrance Sunday (around the 11th November) is joint with the other churches in the village, and starts at the Cenotaph before moving on to St Peter’s Church for a joint service.
Pentecost Sunday (7 weeks after Easter) is usually joint with other churches in the village, especially St Peter’s Church, and we often meet outdoors (weather permitting) on the village green.
Welcome!
We would be really pleased to see you at one of our Sunday services and activities. Please keep an eye on our calendar for full details of everything taking place at Ruddington Baptist Church:
