Asking a Christian friend is a great way to find out more about God or Jesus. Or if you want to do some reading then try the Christianity website or some of the great videos from the Bible Project like what John’s gospel says about Jesus.

In Ruddington, there’s us of course… and St Peter’s Parish Church, Ruddington Methodist Church, and the ROCK Pentecostal Church. If you want another Baptist Church in particular then try their Church Finder. Otherwise, ask a friend, search the web or (in the UK) try the Chistian Enquiry Agency’s form.
Great: go and ask a Christian friend what you should do! Or if you can’t wait – or you aren’t sure who to ask – here’s a simple guide to becoming a Christian. But don’t leave it there: tell someone! And go to a church if you can, and tell them too.
Following Jesus is supposed to involve every part of our lives. Here are a few resources that might be helpful. Going to a church regularly is also really helpful. The London Institute of Contemporary Christianity also has some great resources about following Jesus in everyday life, including the workplace.
Just start by talking to other people about your experience of God; sometimes we call this witnessing. Or if you want a simple way to talk about Jesus’ love you could try ‘one verse evangelism‘.
There’s so much you can do: watch more of the Bible Projects great videos; learn about prayer from 24-7 prayer; read the bible more; spend time in silent prayerfulness; talk to other Christians; read some of the fantastic Christian books that are around…
Have a look at the “About Us” section of the website. Our church is part of the Baptist tradition, but we welcome everyone!
Please come along on a Sunday morning if you can. And contact us if you’d like to join one of our small groups; they are a great way of getting to know more people.
Baptism is a way of demonstrating your commitment to following Jesus. You can read more about in this leaflet. Talk to one of the Leadership Team if you want to find out more or you are considering being baptised.
If you want to make Ruddington Baptist Church your Christian home then we encourage you to become a “church member”. This is a way of demonstrating your commitment to this part of God’s worldwide church. The church members (with God’s help) are also responsible together for all major decisions and the church’s finances – this leaflet about church membership has some more information.
There’s are lots of ways of getting involved in RBC, including helping with Sunday services (inc. setup and refreshments which are usually done by the small groups, sound, computer, music, service leading, preaching); Children & youth work (inc. Nappucinos, FirstSteps, BIG, PAZ, Junior Church – subject to safeguarding); pastoral care; safeguarding; finance & accounting; web site; communications & social media; and so on. Talk to one of leadership team or someone already involved in that area if you want to find out more.
Once you are involved in one of the areas of ministry (see “Help out”, above) there are often chances to take more responsibility – just talk to whoever is leading or coordinating that activity. The church is led by a Leadership Team, who are also the church’s trustees. They are elected every year. The church may also have a minister, who leads the Leadership Team (although at the moment it doesn’t). This leaflet on Leadership in the local church describes the way this normally works in a Baptist Church. We have a single Leadership Team rather than “deacons” and “elders”.
