Sunday Services

Note that during August we usually meet at the Hub instead of St Peter’s rooms.

At Ruddington Baptist Church we aim to provide a place for all to come and worship God. We believe that God can be encountered in a variety of ways through services which include sung worship, teaching, prayer and communion but also in our socialising through shared activities. Our weekly services are not only a place for regular church goers to worship but a point of connection with our local community and with the work of God around the world.

Almost every Sunday morning we have a presence at St Peter’s Rooms from 10:30am, or in August at the Hub (see “Different Sundays…” below). We have a rolling pattern each month for most of the year:

Week 1: Community Sunday

This week we aim to be present in our local area whilst building community with one another. We gather around a range of different activities from bike rides, to litter picking, to coffee, cake and a chat at St Peter’s Rooms. These are great opportunities for people to access the church and make new friends in a relaxed and fun environment. In each of these activities we take a few moments to pause for a short thought, discussion or prayer. If you plan to come on a week 1 and want to be involved in one of the activities away from St Peter’s Rooms then please contact us in advance and we can let you know more details.

Week 2: Sunday Service

This week follows a more conventional model of church service including sung worship, teaching and prayer. In our services we aim to provide a welcoming, relaxed and safe space where all are encouraged to join in with the worship of God. We invite people contribute by singing, speaking, praying and sharing out loud if they want to. But equally people are more than free to sit quietly and join in as they feel able. We tend to have a social time over tea and coffee at the end of the service.

Week 3: Sunday Service or Café style Service

On a week 3 we sometimes meet in a café style and sometimes in a more conventional style. For café style services we sit around tables and enjoy tea and coffee and usually something to eat (maybe a croissant or a bacon butty). These services are very informal and interactive and include the children and young people. Please check in advance if you want to be sure what to expect that week.

Week 4: Sunday Service

This week follows a more conventional model of church service including sung worship, teaching and prayer. In our services we aim to provide a welcoming, relaxed and safe space where all are encouraged to join in with the worship of God. We invite people contribute by singing, speaking, praying and sharing out loud if they want to. But equally people are more than free to sit quietly and join in as they feel able. We tend to have a social time over tea and coffee at the end of the service.

Week 5: Sunday Service or Themed Service

In months with 5 Sundays the 5th Sunday is sometimes linked to a specific theme (e.g. the environment, harvest or world mission). The format can vary between cafe style (like week 3) and more conventional (like weeks 2 and 4). Please check in advance if you want to be sure what to expect that week.

Different Sundays…

During the School Summer holidays (late July through August) Sunday Services tend to be very informal as people with families are often away. Usually we meet at the Hub. Sundays between Christmas Day and New Years Day also vary. So please check in advance if you are planning to join us.

Remembrance Sunday (around the 11th November) is joint with the other churches in the village, and starts at the Cenotaph before moving on to St Peter’s Church for a joint service.

Welcome!

We would be really pleased to see you at one of our Sunday services and activities. Please keep an eye on our calendar for full details of everything taking place at Ruddington Baptist Church:
