New baby? Join us at Nappuccinos

    By Sam Hackett | News | 0 comment | 10 January, 2022 | 0

Nappuccinos meets Mondays 10-11:45am at The Hub, 62 Musters Road, Ruddington, NG11 6EZ

A pair of hands to hold your baby whilst you enjoy a hot cup of coffee and a homemade cake in a cosy setting; a few moments to be still and contemplate life; songs and rhymes to soothe your baby, what’s there not to like? This is Nappuccinos. Running in Ruddington for almost 14 years by members and friends of Ruddington Baptist Church, Nappuccinos seeks to support new parents as they navigate their new way of life.

The repercussions of covid 19 have been vast in so many ways. For new parents there have been limited opportunities to share the pain and pleasures of birth and the early months of their babies lives, even with close family let alone the typical antenatal groups. The opportunities to meet other new mum’s or parents have been reduced with things such as weekly trips to the health centre to weigh your baby stopped or reduced. For many, what should be a joyous time and an opportunity to meet new people, it has become an anxious time with few places to go and socialise in a safe way.

At Nappuccinos we aim to welcome new parents (not just mums as we know that many dads are taking paternity leave and doing a good share of the childcare) into a friendly setting where they can meet other new parents. As a team we also seek to nurture new parents and support them in different ways whether that be by literally holding your baby as you have a coffee or lend a listening ear as you share your latest concerns about you little one. We recognise that being a new parent is demanding and at times draining. You don’t need to come and pretend to be ok if you really aren’t. You are welcome regardless of how you feel or look- we know the effort it can take to just get out of the house!

Life as a new parent doesn’t have to all be about whether your baby is hitting their miles stones but it’s about your wellbeing too. Each week we aim to take a few moments to be ‘still’ and share a simple but thought- provoking passage from the bible. If you are a new parent and you are looking for somewhere to meet new friends, come and join us.
